Volia Software and Softline Deploy inSORS Grid in Eastern Europe
January 20, 2004
Houston, TX - inSORS Integrated Communications,
a Chicago-based multimedia collaboration software developer, has
successfully deployed its multipoint video communications software,
inSORS Grid, using public Internet connections between North America
and Eastern Europe. Houston-based Volia Software (www.volia-software.com)
and Kiev-based Softline (http://www.softline.kiev.ua) have partnered
to produce enterprise and account management software solutions
for large organizations, and will use the inSORS Grid platform
to conduct both ad-hoc and regularly-scheduled strategic and product
management meetings.
Volia and Softline have deployed
simple desktop PC software solutions on both sides of the Atlantic
using inexpensive off-the-shelf USB web cams and echo-canceling
microphones. This approach will enable real-time video, audio,
and data collaboration at a significantly lower cost than transcontinental
audio-only telephone calls. "We wanted to provide a solution
that would be easy to buy, easy to implement, and that would pay
for itself in a short time frame," said Jim Harrison, President
of inSORS Energy Group. "The only concern was making it work
over the Internet in Ukraine."
Bandwidth is still relatively expensive
in Kiev, and available bandwidth is not always consistent. Volia
and Softline needed a flexible solution that would adapt as their
available bandwidth fluctuated. Using the web-based inSORS Virtual
Conferencing and Collaboration Center, the Kiev and Houston locations
are able to easily create connections optimized for their available
bandwidth at any given time. Furthermore, the inSORS Grid endpoint
software allows real-time bandwidth control to correct for network
issues as they occur with minimal effort by end users.
