The Nevada Biomedical Research Infrastructure Network (NBRIN) Deploys inSORS Collaboration Solution
NBRIN joins other Nevada sites with IG Technology
August 16, 2004
( Reno, NV) NBRIN became one of several research and education sites located in Nevada to connect via the inSORS Grid (IG). The University of Nevada at Reno site will use the IG to collaborate with other IG sites at the UNLV, the Desert Research Institute and the ACES or “Advanced Computing for Environmental Sciences” site. The University and Community College System of Nevada (UCCSN) has been granted a 3 year award from National Center for Research Resources to establish the Nevada Biomedical Research Infrastructure Network (NBRIN). The goal of this project is to build research infrastructure that will enhance the ability of Nevada researchers to conduct NIH supported research.
NBRIN is a multi-institutional network that interconnects a group of "open" Technology, Training, and Faculty Development Cores. The stated goal is to promote communication and interdisciplinary collaboration by minimizing barriers between faculty in different departments and colleges within each university and by bringing together investigators from UNR and UNLV. Sierra Nevada College, Southern Nevada Community College, Great Basin College, Western Nevada Community College, and Truckee Meadows Community College will participate in NBRIN through training opportunities for students and faculty.
