CHICAGO, IL --- inSORS Integrated Communications, Inc., a communication solutions provider specializing in real time video, audio, and data collaboration, and the University of Kansas at Lawrence have engaged in a relationship that brings inSORS' Grid (IG) technologies and software products to KU for the purpose of increased efficiency and scope of KU's research initiatives.

In an agreement that pairs inSORS and KU for an initial period of one year, KU will utilize inSORS' IG software to act as a platform on which KU will expand its immersive group-to-group collaborative conferencing activities.

Dr. Ken Bishop, Kansas University's Principal Investigator of NSF & PACI Grants, is enthusiastic about the promise of the inSORS/KU relationship.

"We are extremely pleased with the practical direction in which inSORS has taken distributed computing technologies," said Dr. Bishop. "We are excited to utilize this interactive application in our own collaboration environment. "

In addition to the licensing agreement, inSORS will also offer software support, while staff at KU will work with inSORS' network engineers on such issues as tunneling capabilities between KU and inSORS' Grid networks, which are comprised of any number of linked Grid centers. These centers, or Nodes, each house the equipment, software, and connections necessary to interface inSORS Grid Nodes with each other as well as with other Grid conferencing and collaboration centers.

The University of Kansas at Lawrence is a major comprehensive research and teaching institution that serves as a center for learning, scholarship and creative endeavor. Accordingly, KU will use the IG to pilot collaborative tools that promise to improve communications between their many dispersed sites, departments, and affiliates. KU is the only Kansas Regents institution to hold membership in the prestigious Association of American Universities, a select group of 62 public and private research universities that represent excellence in graduate and professional education and the highest achievements in research internationally.

The IG is a cutting-edge collaborative conferencing and distance learning system. It is comprised of the latest video and audio components and has been tested for two years in the research and university communities. The IG has been commercially developed by inSORS to be used in the Real Time Collaboration market, the corporate training market, and the distance education market. It is comprised of both hardware and software, and has additional features such as scheduling, archiving, and record and playback. The IG can also be delivered as a hosted application through inSORS' Virtual Venue service platform.
