High Performance Computing Across Texas Research Group Deploys
inSORS Grid Conferencing Solutions
September 28, 2004
Austin, TX – inSORS Integrated Communications, Inc., developer of high-end collaboration software specializing in multi-group video, audio, and data communications, recently implemented nine inSORS Grid conferencing solutions with High Performance Computing Across Texas (HiPCAT), a consortium of Texas institutions using advanced computer and network technologies to enhance research and education.
HiPCAT utilizes high-speed educational networks in Texas to connect Baylor College of Medicine, Rice University, Texas A&M University, Texas Tech University, University of Houston, University of Texas at Arlington, University of Texas at Austin, University of Texas at El Paso, and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. These universities share computational resources including clusters, high-capacity data storage, scientific visualization systems, and advanced software systems. The HiPCAT group enables Texas researchers with the most advanced grid computing resources available and the expertise to address challenging computational problems.
HiPCAT member institutions recognized the value of the Access Grid (AG) collaboration tool developed at Argonne National Laboratory, but chose the AG-compatible inSORS solution because of its ease of use and long-term value as a production-ready conferencing solution. Many users were surprised at the simplicity of installation and the easy-to-use new inSORS front end, combined with new data collaboration tools like the virtual whiteboard and the improved IGPix web-based content-sharing application. The group will use the inSORS Grid for monthly management meetings, ad-hoc collaboration sessions, and connections with H.323 videoconferencing systems.
inSORS, based in Chicago with offices in Houston, Los Angeles, Washington DC, Detroit, New York, London, and Tokyo, develops, markets, and supports unified collaboration software and solutions that enable multiple groups and individuals to collaborate with high-quality audio, video, and data over existing network infrastructure.
The inSORS Grid solutions provide innovative state-of-the-art conferencing and collaboration tools that integrate a wide range of communications systems into a simple, easy-to-use platform. inSORS solutions include server and client software, documentation and support, and comprehensive services including installation, network and collaboration consulting, and training.
