CHICAGO, IL --- inSORS Integrated Communications, Inc., a communication solutions provider specializing in real time video, audio, and data collaboration, has joined the Global Grid Forum (GGF) as a Silver Sponsor member.

Chicago-based inSORS is a communications systems integrator offering enterprise-scale audio, video, and data products and services. Founded in 1998, inSORS' extensive research efforts in the converged network applications arena has resulted in the inSORS Grid (IG), a cutting-edge interactive, multimedia conferencing and collaboration product immersed in the practice of distributed computing and related technologies.

The Global Grid Forum is a community-initiated forum of individual researchers and practitioners working on distributed computing, or "grid" technologies. The GGF focuses on the promotion and development of Grid technologies and applications via the development and documentation of "best practices," implementation guidelines, and standards with an emphasis on rough consensus and running code.

As a member sponsor of the GGF, inSORS hopes to prove itself a group that will assist in the establishing of guidelines and procedures for many GGF initiatives and projects. In particular, inSORS is enthusiastic about its participation in the Advanced Collaboration Environments (ACE) GGF research group, which researches and develops high-end, high-value solutions to the problem of supporting distributed collaboration.

"We are extremely excited about our association with the GGF," said inSORS' CEO and President Michael Galich. "We feel that inSORS can be an active and productive contributor to the Global Grid Forum, and especially so in the GGF's ACE research group."

Mr. Galich, whose GGF Silver Sponsorship is the first of its type for inSORS, is also dedicated to the development and deployment of all Grid technologies, and feels that inSORS' role in such endeavors can be essential. "As a company that develops and implements Grid technologies, we feel that our research and expertise in this field will help to strengthen the nature of the current state of distributed computing. We look forward to sharing what we've done as well as learning from the number of other organizations involved with the GGF."

Charlie Catlett, the GGF's chairperson, concurs with Mr. Galich. "The GGF has become a gathering point for the world's leaders in the research, development, and implementation of grid technologies and systems. GGF participants come from federal, academic, and industrial organizations, and in each of these sectors there are both "producers" and "consumers" of grid technologies. We're excited that inSORS has joined the GGF and are very much looking forward to their ongoing involvement, support, and contributions."

Included in the over 200 organizations from over 30 countries participating in the GGF are industry sponsors such as Microsoft, Sun Microsystems, Compaq, Fujitsu America, IBM, Platform Computing, Qwest Communications, and IBM. GGF is also sponsored by major US laboratories and programs including Argonne National Laboratory, NASA's Information Power Grid program, and multiple Department of Energy and National Science Foundation programs.
