Chevron deploys inSORS Grid on board another Drill Ship
The ENSCO 7500 is IG2 enabled in the GOM

July 15, 2005

Houston, TX – inSORS Integrated Communications, a Chicago-based collaboration software and solutions developer specializing in multi-group video, audio, and data communications, recently deployed an inSORS Grid multimedia conference room system in the drill ship the Ensco 7500 currently drilling in the Gulf of Mexico to support exploration and production activities and bring quicker results to the drilling process. This is the second of several drill ship deployments Chevron has planned through the WellDECC program. WellDECC is Chevron’s Well Design & Execution Collaboration Center, an ideal platform for the inSORS IG2 multipoint video, audio and data share solution.

Chevron has adopted the inSORS Grid technology across North America and select locations in Europe and Africa, resulting in a positive impact on communications effectiveness and cost savings resulting from reduced travel and better access to key managers and subject matter experts.  The installation on board the Ensco 7500 will further enhance Chevron’s productivity benefits by reducing expensive travel to the rig and by allowing access to engineering and geology experts in Houston and other locations.

With limited available bandwidth via satellite connections to the GOM, Chevron adopted a server-client network structure that would allow comfortable multimedia collaboration sessions with variable bandwidth options to enable high-bandwidth fiber-optic connections when available or satellite connections when required.  The inSORS Grid solution includes powerful tools that simplify network infrastructure management so that end users can enter collaboration sessions as needed without assistance from technicians or network staff.
