January 19, 2008 // Chicago – The LegalGrid Online (LGO) initiative continues to expand with a recently installed IOCOM system at IDRS (Dispute Resolution Services) in London, UK.
The IOCOM system will be used to communicate with the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and others in the growing LGO network that uses IOCOM technology. LGO’s base at the Leeds Club is the United Kingdom’s first privatized virtual dispute resolution centre, pioneering an effort to develop technologically advanced Alternative Dispute Resolution methods. Other LGO sites are planned in Mumbai, Williamsburg and New York. The IOCOM technology will allow participants at these sites, and anywhere within the LGO network, to join multi-party video conferences from the LGO offices, from home systems, or even on mobile connections from the field. According to Jeremy Barrett, barrister and visiting professor of law informatics at Leeds University, “private online ADR could be the future, and relieve pressure on courts.”
